Fishing for salmon, halibut, lingcod and more with the new owners of a legendary lodge in Sitka, Alaska.
It’s summer in Southeast Alaska, and the salmon run is in full effect. In February, Joshua Badder and Justin Karleski became the new owners of Wild Strawberry Lodge, setting off to run a 30-plus-year-old, family-owned lodge in Sitka. Joshua and Justin take viewers on a tour of Sitka and all the epic views, wildlife and fishing it offers. Featured species: salmon, halibut, lingcod, rockfish.
Thirteen hundred guests per year. Seven custom-built charter boats. Each client leaving the Sitka airport with 50 to 100 pounds of fish. Meet Joshua Badder and Justin Karleski, the new owners of Wild Strawberry Lodge, and spend a few days limiting out on king and silver salmon.
From hunting in the mountains to deep dropping in coves to heading off into the roiling Pacific for Alaska’s best known game fish, Sitka is made for adventurers. This time out, halibut are the target species. Says Wild Strawberry Lodge lodge co-owner Joshua Badder: “For me, in saltwater, my obsession is halibut.”
