After reminiscing about their first unguided trip to the Keys, creators Aaron Benzrihem (Abenz Fishing) and Rich Janitschek (Fishaholic) were plotting a return. Now that the 18-foot Mako skiff was outfitted with a new poling platform and Garmin Force Kraken trolling motor, the team was locked, loaded, and ready for action. The plan was to spend several days fishing shallow water reefs and the historic Seven Mile Bridge fishing soft plastic shrimp and swimbaits to target snapper, jacks, and grouper.
Once the pair got dialed in, the cooler started to fill with mangrove snappers and yellow jacks. However, it wasn’t long before the notorious bull sharks began to ruin the party. With locked drags and carefully placed baits, Aaron and Rich were successfully able to boat dozens of fish. Despite the difficulties they sometimes present, the Florida Keys has quickly become a favorite of the team. No doubt they will return again soon to the inshore fishing paradise.
Aaron Benzrihem (Abenz Fishing)
Aaron Benzrihem is an avid angler based out of southeast Florida. He grew up snook fishing on Sanibel Island and now writes, shoots, and edits fishing stories and videos that document his efforts to catch the biggest inshore fish Florida has to offer.
Richard Janitschek (Fishaholic)
Richard Janitschek grew up in North Jersey, then spent time living in Montauk NY, where he worked on a charter boat, guided surf casting trips, and ran his own light tackle charter boat. After graduating college in 2017 he loaded his kayak on his truck and started traveling, fishing, and filming along the U.S. east coast, finally settling in Stuart, Florida in 2021.
