The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) today announced a new partnership with Native Eyewear to promote Anglers’ Legacy, a program that encourages avid anglers to share their love of boating and fishing and introduce newcomers to the sport. The promotion, which kicks off this month and runs through the end of the year, uses Web banners to encourage online visitors to “Take the Pledge” and enter to win a free pair of sunglasses.
“Native Eyewear’s promotion will help reach outdoor enthusiasts nationwide,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “The Anglers’ Legacy program has signed up more than 50,000 Ambassadors nationwide, which translates into big gains for the boating and fishing industries and fishing license sales. We want to continue to highlight the importance of passing on the legacy to newcomers – and reward folks who do so.”
To enter the promotion, online users must visit the “Lifestyle” section of nativeyewear.com, take the Pledge through the Get Outdoors button, and enter the promo code “Native08.” They will then be prompted to enter into a drawing to receive a free pair of sunglasses. Each month, one lucky winner will be chosen to receive the gift.
“We are thrilled to be supporting Anglers’ Legacy,” said Native Eyewear Team Member Gina Giacoponello. “We want to pass on the message to our online users that sharing the legacy of boating and fishing will preserve these sports. We look forward to sharing our eyewear with those who take the Pledge.”
Anglers’ Legacy was launched in May 2006. To date, the program has collected more than 50,000 Pledges, which according to an RBFF survey of participants conducted in 2007, means it may have already generated $5.2 million for the fishing industry, $7.2 million for the boating industry and the sale of more than 88,000 new fishing licenses.
