FishStock 2013 Tournament Results
The 2013 FishStock presented by New Smyrna Beach and Southeast Volusia County enjoyed fantastic weather, great participation and lots of action on the water for the 340 anglers competing in the Striker Offshore Tournament and Redfish-Trout Challenge presented by Yellowfin. Additionally, thousands of spectators enjoyed live music, daily fish weigh-ins, a boat show, KidStock seminars, Chevy Florida Insider Fishing Report seminars, marine exhibitors and the FishStock 5K and Family Fun Run Race.
The 37th annual New Smyrna Beach Striker Tournament winner went to the team aboard Virgin Hooker, which included Aaron Watson, Carl Lentz, Donnie Testa, Jeff Rogers and Ricky Virgin. The team reeled in the winning catches nearly 150-miles offshore with 69.8 and 64.6-pound yellowfin tunas which placed first and second in the category and earned enough points to win the top boat of the tournament honors. The team’s total winnings were $5,293.53 in cash and thousands in prizes including: Orca cooler, Penn reels, Costa Sunglasses, Papa’s Pilar Rum, Tito’s Vodka and King Sailfish Mounts trophies. The team also received a coveted invitation to fish the Offshore World Championship in 2014 to represent the Striker which is a Qualifying Event.
The second place team on Sea Genie II included anglers Greg Nunziato, Jason Neat, Kyle Gibbons and Michael Beechwoldt placed first and second on the Kingfish board earning 53.8-points from a 19.70 and 34.10-pound fish. They also won the Kingfish division and Optional Jackpot for total cash winnings of $3,136.7 and lots of prizes and King Sailfish Mounts Trophies.
The third place team on 20/20 included anglers Joe McDermott, Marc Sherman, Shane Thompson and Steve Powers who caught a 34.30-pound dolphin to win first in that category and earn enough points to place third overall. Their total cash winnings were $1,274.30 plus prizes and trophies.
The all ladies team on Fish N Tits included Deb Frank, Debbie Boeyen, Jennifer Butera, Kimberly Machnik, Mary Ann White and Regan Plunket had a great tournament placing third in the dolphin category with a 24.40-pounder and third in the Optional Overall Jackpot winning a total of $971.83 and Top Lady Angler for Kimberly Machnik.
The Striker’s Top Junior Angler award went to Eric Seidelman Jr. on All In for his 21.40-pound dolphin which also placed fourth in that category winning $179.00, a King Sailfish Mounts trophy and a nice prize package.
In the 11th annual Redfish-Trout Challenge presented by Yellowfin, Mike Marple and Ruben Diaz took home first-place. The veteran team had been close in the past with multiple second place finishes, but this proved to be their year to win it all. Anchored by consistent fishing over two days, the team earned 34.44 pounds from four redfish including 4.54, 6.24, 6.42 and 6.5-pound fish. They also caught two trout weighing in at 5.22 and 5.52-pounds. First place earned then $1,212.75 and thousands in prizes including: MotorGuide trolling motor, Yeti cooler, Penn and Shimano reels, Costa Sunglasses, Papa’s Pilar Rum, and King Sailfish Mounts trophies.
In second place Terry Smith, Maggie Rood and Patrick Rood earned 34.36-pounds from four redfish including 5.0, 5.18, 5.7 and 6.52-pound redfish and two sea trout weighing 5.16 and 5.8-pounds earning $943.25. The team also won Top Trout Boat worth 673.75 and the optional Trout Jackpot worth 857.50. Their total cash winnings were $2,474.50 plus great prizes including a MotorGuide trolling motor and King Sailfish Mounts trophies.
The team of Greg Geiselman, Heather Melchick, Rob Ganzenmuller had a great tournament winning the Redfish Category with 25.68-pounder earning $673.75 and the optional Redfish Jackpot worth $1,067.50 for a total cash winnings of $1,741.25.
The team of Butch Morrisey, Craig Morrisey and Bill Allen also banked some nice cash by winning the Optional Redfish Most Spots category with 12-spots earning $805. The team also placed second in the trout category earning another $404.25 for total winnings of $1,209.25.
The Top Lady Angler honors went to Lora Peters for her 6.92-pound redfish. The Top Junior angler prize went to Dillon Robinson for his amazing catch of a 7.50 pound redfish.
