Mercury Marine reasserts its claim as the leading boat engine maker by introducing 14 hot new outboards to meet the needs of a wide range of boating segments, including recreational saltwater anglers.
“These engines are naturally aspirated, durable, powerful and provide options for the consumer that they’ve never had before,” said Mercury Marine president John Pfeifer. “This new lineup aligns with what consumers are asking for, and we are delighted to deliver it to them.”
Pro XS Reinvented
New 175hp V-6, plus 200, 225, 250 and 300hp V-8 FourStrokes join the previously introduced 115hp and 150hp models to convert the entire Pro XS series from Optimax outboards to the next generation of FourStrokes, offering better fuel economy and featuring a new compact cowl, high-displacement powerheads for increase torque, quad-cam design and Transient Spark technology for superior acceleration, and performance-tuned exhaust tone engineered to deliver a brawny sound, while remaining quieter than the competition at cruising and top speed.
All new V-6 and V-8 Pro XS engines also incorporate Adaptive Speed Control, which maintains the driver’s desired rpm setting regardless of load or water conditions. Models from 200 to 300hp are available with either mechanical or digital controls.
New Verados
The popular Verado series gets two new additions: 250 and 300hp V-8s, raising the bar in marine performance, increasing acceleration, top speed and fuel efficiency. A next-generation Advanced Mid-Section (AMS) with perimeter mounts in the new V-8 models delivers the lowest vibration in the industry, while sound barriers make them the quietest outboards in their segment. Compatible with Mercury Joystick Piloting for Outboards for top maneuverability and control, V-8 Verados feature Mercury-engineered digital controls and electro-hydraulic power steering for smooth operation. Equipped with Adaptive Speed Control, the new motors deliver increased throttle response and a sportier feel. Exclusive Advanced Sound Control technology allows users to toggle between ultra-quiet operation and a “throatier” sound.
New V-8 FourStrokes
Also rolled out, new high-tech 250 and 300hp V-8 FourStroke outboards are more powerful, yet quiet, efficient, reliable and strong. The high-displacement, quad-cam design of the new V-8 powerhead generates plenty of torque, especially at mid-range. Boasting class-leading 4.6L displacement, Mercury’s new 300hp is also the lightest and, according to Mercury, it delivers up to 9% more torque than the nearest competitor at 3500-4500 rpm.
The new FourStrokes are also exceptionally versatile, offering mechanical or digital (DTS) controls and hydraulic or power steering. This versatility makes them ideal for repowering a wide range of different hulls.
More Color Options
The new V-8 FourStroke and V-8 Verado engines are also available in multiple colors and can be further customized with the addition of an accent panel. Mercury’s Warm Fusion, Cold Fusion and Pearl Fusion white cowl color options plus the popular Phantom Black, combined with five factory accent color panels and “paint-ready” panels, let owners mix and match, or paint their own panels to further personalize their engine.
