Of the myriad ways to wrap a line around a cleat, the simplest is the fastest and most secure.
- Take the first turn on the horn opposite the direction of pull.
- Wrap the line under the second horn and cross over the top in a figure eight.
- Finish with a half-hitch around the second horn. Pull the tag end tight to seat the hitch.
