Catching Sails Off the Darien Jungle

We returned to the Darien Jungle for round two at Tropic Star Lodge, a 60-year-old fishing resort well known as one of the best places to catch big billfish (especially black marlin) on the planet. Creators Ryan Morie, Tyler Wald, John McLean, and Tony Faggioni spent a week at the lodge, capturing one of the best pelagic bites of their lives. Where else can you catch over two dozen sailfish in the morning and pop for yellowfin tuna in the afternoon? Several team members even got to follow the lodge’s tradition of walking the plank after catching their first billfish. The fishing, the food, and the culture all combine to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
