Regulator Marine builds center-console fishing boats from 23 to 41 feet in length with hulls and structural integrity that have set the bar for strength, durability, and smooth-riding comfort. Regulator has also launched a number of firsts, including a full-height console head, twin outboard power, oversize fish boxes, multiple hull colors, and insulated iceboxes.

Other innovations—largely unseen but key to reliability and seakindliness—have included wider chines, knitted fiberglass replacing woven roving, and the elimination of structural wood in the heavy-duty construction of each Regulator model.

Regulator’s durable construction practice has become the foundation of what the company proudly calls its “legendary ride”—the weight and depth of each boat creating a low center of gravity with the strength to take on heavy seas again and again. The wood-free stringer grid acts as the boat’s skeleton, and the seamless liner is easy to clean and to move about in. Each stringer is fiberglassed in-hull, with the liner bonded to the hull/stringer combo, and the deck cap is secured with marine adhesive and stainless steel through-bolts every 6 inches. The result is what makes Regulator boats the most sought after among today’s boating anglers.

Regulator 31

Regulator 31’s big-boat features and midsize agility are what have made it one of the company’s bestselling models.

Twin Yamaha XTO Offshore 450s, Yamaha Next Generation digital boat control with digital electric steering, Helm Master EX, Seakeeper Ride dynamic trim system, and a factory-installed Garmin electronics package lead the list of standards.

Optional are a Seakeeper 2 gyrostabilizer, a 3X deluxe tackle center, and more. Several Garmin electronics options, including open-array radar upgrades, are available, as are a thermal-imaging camera and underwater LED lights.

The massive cockpit, standard oversize tackle center, fish boxes/livewells, and optional outrigger bases and 22-foot carbon-fiber poles turn the 31 into one mean fishing machine. Coaming pads ring the cockpit, and the standard fiberglass T-top features a wraparound windshield with washer/wiper and an electronics box. Rocket launchers are an option. There’s also navigation and dock lighting, spreader lights, and additional LED lights.

Standard are a pair of insulated and illuminated forward fish boxes, as well as an in-deck, insulated and macerated fish box that can double as rod storage. The transom contains another illuminated insulated fish box, and the livewell is similarly equipped. Raw-water and freshwater washdowns are also standard. Forward is a 230-quart dry-storage compartment.

Upgrade the standard 3X deluxe tackle station to include aft-facing mezzanine seating. A refrigerated transom fish box and an additional transom livewell are among the fishing options, along with additional rod holders and electric-reel outlets for deep-dropping and kites.

Comfort and convenience are delivered by the starboard boarding and dive door, flip-up forward seat backrests, and optional forward sunshade and automated cockpit shade. Wraparound bow seating with flip-up backrests comes standard, with a sun-bed filler cushion and a convertible pedestal table optional.

The console, fronted at its exterior with upholstered seating for two, features a stand-up interior with an electric marine toilet, lighting, and electric pump-out tank. There are also six vertical rod holders and Chilewich flooring inside.

Among Regulator’s fastest boats, the 31 with twin 450s tops out around 65 mph.
