Rather than re-rig a good fishing rod every time I want to use my Sabiki rig to catch bait, I use a 7′ piece of 1″ PVC pipe. I put a fitting on the end so that the hooks would not catch on the end of the pipe. I drilled a small hole for the line to enter the pipe about 3″ forward of the old reel that I mounted right on the pipe with hose clamps. The sinker keeps me from reeling the line all the way into the pipe. When you find that school of cigar minnows or greenies, grab this bait “rod,” without worrying about catching hooks in your hand or your buddies’ heads, and load up the live well.
